SNLE Self Study Plan
A six-week SNLE self study plan you can run around night shifts
Most nurses fail the SNLE paper because revision is unstructured, not because the science is hard. This roadmap fixes the order: diagnose first, close systems one at a time, then rehearse under exam conditions.
- 1
Week 1
Baseline and fundamentals
Sit a diagnostic mock cold, then rebuild the nursing process, vital-sign ranges, documentation and safety basics.
Checkpoint: A ranked weakness list you revise against for the rest of the plan.
- 2
Weeks 2–3
Medical-surgical core
Cardiac, respiratory, renal, endocrine, neuro and GI — one system a day with a 40-question set to close it.
Checkpoint: 80% accuracy on each system set before you move on.
- 3
Week 4
Maternity, paediatrics, mental health
Case-based revision of intrapartum monitoring, newborn care, growth milestones and psychiatric emergencies.
Checkpoint: Two mixed 75-question sets at exam pace.
- 4
Week 5
Pharmacology and calculations
Drug classes by suffix, high-alert medications, antidotes and 60 timed dosage calculations.
Checkpoint: Zero calculation errors in a timed 20-question drill.
- 5
Week 6
Rehearsal and booking
Three full 150-question timed mocks under Prometric conditions, plus SCFHS Mumaris paperwork checks.
Checkpoint: Consistent 75%+ mock scores — the signal to book your date.
How to use the plan each day
45 minutes of notes
Read one subtopic from the notes library and write five recall lines from memory before you close the file.
30 questions
Answer a mixed set on that subtopic and read every rationale, including the ones you got right.
10 minutes of error log
Write why each miss happened — knowledge gap, misread stem or rushed timing. Patterns show up within a week.
